I've been asked this several times so thought I would show you a few ideas for healthy breakfasts. And yes, I actually eat these for breakfast. Some people run out of ideas and get bored with their usual oatmeal or perhaps they are scared to try new things because they don't know if they are the right type of foods to eat for breakfast. Well let me tell you, breakfast is my FAVOURITE meal of the day. It means I get to eat carbohydrates, and a lot of them, since after breakfast I burn around 600 calories doing high intensity interval training/cardio so I need that fuel.
Your body has just spent 7-10 hours starving. Your glycogen stores are low and your metabolism has slowed right down to conserve energy. As soon as you get up, your body wakes up and searches for fuel for energy to start the day. If you do not give it what it wants, guess where it's going to get it from. Wrong, not your fat stores like most people think. It's going to first search for fuel (stored glycogen) in your liver and your muscles. Do you want to lose muscle strength? Do you want to start the day off being weak? Absolutely not! Do you want to kick start your metabolism and turn your body into an efficient machine? YES!
So please, please PLEASE start your day off right to a big, healthy, nutritious breakfast. Give your body what it deserves!

This doesn't look appetizing, but I assure you, it is one tasty dish. You are probably wondering why you see bread on my plate. This is Ezekiel Bread and this particular type is Cinnamon Raisin. Ezekiel bread is made from sprouted grains, is a complex carbohydrate, low on the GI scale so does not spike insulin, actually lowers blood sugar levels, and it is high in fiber and contains all 9 of the essential amino acids. It is not Gluten-free so please look it up online to decide whether it's right for you. For those people who eat normal bread now, go ahead and switch to this.
I like to mash up half a banana and sometimes mash in some vanilla or cinnamon protein powder with it, then spread 1/2 tbsp of Almond Butter on each slice then top with the banana mash.

Since we're on the topic of Ezekiel Bread, here is another way I like to eat it. This one is the plain flavour.
Ezekiel French Toast
Egg whites, cinnamon powder, vanilla essence, pinch of salt and unsweetened vanilla almond milk make the batter for the French Toast.
Dip the slices into the batter and cook in a hot pan. Add half a cup of fresh blueberries to the hot pan and heat up the blueberries to release the sweetness and make them juicy.
Serve with half a banana or not. The banana will add quite a few more carbs so you can leave that out.

Steel Cut Oats
Such a great breakfast this is. Filling and gives you plenty of energy. Steel cut oats are low GI, an excellent complex carbohydrate, and some studies state that they could aide in belly fat loss. Who doesn't want that?
1/4 cup raw Steel cut oats, half a mashed banana, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1tsp cinnamon powder, and 1/4 cup of mixed berries (optional). And of course, since I have about 10 containers of protein powder in my cupboard, I sometimes sprinkle in some vanilla or cinnamon protein powder.

Now this can take some effort so if you have plenty of time in the morning to cook this, then go for it!
I make a sweet potato and salmon pattie using grated sweet potato, a pouch of wild pink salmon, onions, egg whites, herbs or curry powder depending on my mood, and I might add some veggies of some sort like grated zucchini or finely chopped broccoli. I then fry them in a non-stick pan. Top with two poached eggs.

This may look like a pizza but I assure you it is not. It is my loaded egg white omelette. You can pretty much add whatever you like and make a glorious omelette.
In this picture I've added chopped green beans, 98% fat free ground chicken breast, red peppers, onions, and herbs.
You could add salmon, any type of chopped veggie, sliced avocado, tomato, zucchini.... I mean, the possibilities are endless.

PANCAKES! You can't go wrong with pancakes. I think I eat them at least once a day. I've figured out how to make low carb ones so I literally can eat them at any time of the day.
The ones pictured are my Berry Cheesecake Pancakes which you can find here, topped with Greek Yogurt.
I always make them gluten-free with no added sugar. You don't need refined white flour and table sugar anymore. Not when you have oat flour, almond flour, coconut flour, stevia, protein powder, fruits etc.

So there's a quick look into only a few of my breakfasts. There are plenty more but that may give you some ideas for your breakfast tomorrow.
Enjoy :-)
