Walden Farms Syrups

So let me tell you a little secret... Everyday is a challenge for me to stick to my meal plan. Not because I want pizza and pasta, but because I want sweet stuff now and then. Lucky for me, a Quest Nutrition bar usually does the trick, I'll review those beauties at another time.
I'm always trying to find healthy alternatives to satisfy the sweet tooth so that I don't blow all my hard work with a piece of chocolate or candy. Fruit, protein powders and flavoured teas with stevia are pretty much the only sweet things I eat. That can lead to boredom very quickly.
One day I was looking on Instagram and noticed someone mentioned Walden Farms zero calorie products so I went on Amazon and did some research. Boom! Sweet tooth fixed and new recipes were created. I eat the Pancake Syrup everyday on my pancakes, and I mean everyday!
So I have tried the three flavours shown above but am yet to try the Blueberry and Strawberry one. I figured since I already put berries in my pancakes 90% of the time, I could do without those flavours.

All of these syrups are zero calorie, zero carbohydrates, zero sugar, zero fat and zero gluten! A lot of people like to stay with completely whole foods and that's great if you can do that. I do that the majority of the time but in order to stick to it, I do like a splurge and this is my way to do that without breaking my diet completely. The ingredients look like this... Triple filtered water, maple flavour (pancake syrup), natural flavours, cellulose gum, salt, sucralose, lactic acid, sodium benzoate. That's from the pancake syrup bottle. There's a couple of other things in the other syrups like vanilla flavour, caramel flavour and defatted cocoa powder.

Pancake Syrup: The best! To me it tastes just like a normal pancake syrup. Not quite maple syrup, but close. Now remember though, I haven't eaten normal syrup or maple syrup for well over a year so my taste buds will dance over stuff that yours may not. However it wins over my husband so I can't be that weird.

Chocolate Syrup: This one I got sick of after a few months. It goes well mixed with fresh espresso and stevia on my Almond flour pancakes but that seems to be it. On it's own it's a little bitter and artificial tasting but again, I can make do since I can't have real chocolate.

Caramel Syrup: Haven't experimented much with this one. I did some grilled apples and caramel sauce but that was awful! I put it on top of chocolate pancakes and that was actually pretty good. I have mixed feelings with this one but it definitely is growing on me. Will need to experiment more.

Pancake Syrup: 9/10
Chocolate Syrup: 6/10
Caramel Syrup: 6/10

So to sum up, if you can get it, go for the pancake syrup. It will save you so many calories if you switch from regular syrups. It may just help you through your diet if you are sick of bland food.

There is a waldenfarms.com.au but I'm unsure of whether they ship to New Zealand. You may need to do a google search or have some delivered internationally but that could be costly. I'm sorry!
